Here at Hope Happens our mission is to educate our communities with the resources available to help bring awareness and prevention of suicide and to support those that have been affected by suicide in any way by showing them that hope happens.

Our Story

Janet & Clarena, the founders of Hope Happens met at a Survivor day event for those who had lost a loved one to suicide. Janet, having lost her 14 year old son, Christopher, in 2014 & Clarena, having lost her mother, Maria, in 2007 recognized the need for a support group in their area. Dec 2014, after receiving the proper certifications the SOS Greater Fort Hood group began meeting and slowly grew into a powerful movement. Janet & Clarena began developing "Lets talk about suicide" workshops and presenting them to their community free of charge.

After over a year of work in the community, Janet and Clarena decided to start working towards becoming their own entity and formed "Hope Happens" established, April 2016. Realizing the work ahead Janet and Clarena asked Jennifer Warnick from Waco, TX to join Hope Happens and become a vital part of not only our day to day operations but our amazing movement and mission. Jennifer comes to us as a survivor and chair of the "Waco-Out of the darkness walk", having lost her mother in 2011, Jennifer began her journey to end the stigma of mental illness and suicide.

We are thankful to all of those that have supported us not only in this time of great news, but in the darkest of times after our loss. We will continue to let our loved ones names live through our work in the community.
